The Cleveland Cavaliers have picked up the third-year team option on guard Jaylon Tyson, securing his contract through the 2026/27 season, the club announced on Wednesday, Oct. 22.

By exercising the option, Cleveland guarantees Tyson’s salary of $3,492,480 for 2025/26 and $3,658,560 for 2026/27. The front office must decide by next fall whether to activate his fourth-year option, valued at $5,641,500, for the 2027/28 campaign.

Tyson, a 6-foot-6 shooting guard who turns 23 in December, was selected 20th overall in the 2024 NBA Draft. As a rookie, he appeared in 47 games, averaging 9.6 minutes, 3.6 points and 2.0 rebounds while shooting 43.0% from the floor, 34.5% from beyond the arc and 79.2% at the free-throw line.

According to the team’s contract tracker, Tyson was the only Cavalier with a rookie-scale option for 2026/27, leaving no additional option decisions before the league’s Oct. 31 deadline.
