The Cleveland Cavaliers moved a step closer to getting Max Strus back on the floor, sending the veteran wing to practice with their G League affiliate, the Cleveland Charge, on Wednesday.

According to Cleveland.com, Strus is slated to stay with the Charge for another practice on Thursday and could go through a light workout on Friday as part of his return-to-play progression.

The 27-year-old has missed the entire season following August surgery to repair a Jones fracture in his left foot. A recent medical scan showed “progressive healing,” clearing him for individual drills before advancing to full team activities.

A league source told Cleveland.com there have been no setbacks during his ramp-up. If that trend continues, Strus could make his season debut Sunday when the Cavaliers host the Dallas Mavericks.

Strus has logged 120 games (107 starts) for Cleveland over the past two seasons, averaging 11.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.7 assists. The club is expected to monitor his minutes for the remainder of the regular season.
