The Cleveland Cavaliers have not entered into any substantive trade discussions involving guard Darius Garland, league sources told Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.

Fischer reported that rival front offices are monitoring the situation but remain idle, waiting for what he described as a “green light” before submitting firm proposals for Garland or starting center Jarrett Allen. Both players have circulated in speculation for several seasons.

Among the two, Allen is viewed as the more attainable candidate. Injuries have disrupted his year, his production has fluctuated, and head coach Kenny Atkinson has often turned to Evan Mobley at center during pivotal moments. Questions about Allen’s physicality against stronger frontcourts persist.

Garland, recovering from toe surgery, has recently shown improvement, yet team metrics remain discouraging. Data from Cleaning the Glass ranks Cleveland’s offense in the 38th percentile and its defense in the 16th percentile when the guard is on the floor. The Cavaliers are about seven points worse per 100 possessions with Garland playing, the lowest on-off mark of his career.

As a second-apron team, Cleveland lacks the financial latitude to overhaul the roster for depth. Executing an in-season deal that would return multiple rotation pieces for Garland is considered unrealistic, leaving any potential move both complicated and potentially unfavorable.

Cleveland enters Friday at 17-16, still weighing options but, according to sources, not actively shopping its former All-Star guard or its starting center.
