Cleveland Cavaliers star Donovan Mitchell and Oklahoma City Thunder standout Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have been selected as the NBA’s Players of the Week for the Eastern and Western Conferences, respectively.

Mitchell captured the Eastern honor after averaging 31.8 points, 6.3 rebounds and 5.0 assists while leading Cleveland to a 3-1 record during the award period. The All-Star guard delivered one of his strongest stretches of the season as the Cavaliers continue to cope with injuries throughout the roster.

Gilgeous-Alexander took the Western award by putting up 31.0 points and 6.5 assists per game on 60 percent shooting in a 4-0 week for the defending champion Thunder. It marks his second weekly accolade of the season.

The Western Conference nominee list also included Memphis forward Santi Aldama, the Lakers guard Luka Dončić, San Antonio guard De’Aaron Fox, LA Clippers guard James Harden and Denver center Nikola Jokić.

In the East, Mitchell topped a field featuring Detroit center Jalen Duren, Chicago guard Josh Giddey, Toronto forward Brandon Ingram, Charlotte rookie Kon Knueppel, Philadelphia guard Tyrese Maxey, Miami forward Norman Powell and Kelel Ware, Milwaukee guard Ryan Rollins and Orlando forward Franz Wagner.

Mitchell’s latest recognition underscores his importance to Cleveland’s success, while Gilgeous-Alexander continues to fuel Oklahoma City’s push at the top of the Western standings.
