Duke freshman forward Cameron Boozer confirmed Sunday that he sustained multiple fractures to his right orbital bone but has opted against surgery as he begins the healing process.
The 18-year-old suffered the injury one week earlier during the Blue Devils’ Elite Eight loss to UConn. When he met reporters in Indianapolis on Sunday, Boozer’s right eye remained swollen and bloodshot.
“I have a couple of fractures, but I’m all good, just going through the healing process,” Boozer said.
Projected as a top-three or top-four selection in the 2026 NBA Draft, Boozer traveled to Indianapolis to collect two national Player of the Year awards after previously being voted the Associated Press Player of the Year. His freshman campaign produced averages of 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds, 4.1 assists and 1.4 steals while shooting 55.6 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from three-point range and 78.9 percent at the foul line across 38 games (33.4 minutes per game). He was also named a first-team All-American.
“I’m just a winning player and all-around player,” Boozer added. “I impact the game in so many different ways. I think just my competitiveness translates to any level. So, yeah, I think any team who takes a chance on me is going to be very happy with the results they get.”
Boozer is the son of former NBA forward-center Carlos Boozer, a two-time All-Star whose final season in the league came in 2014-15.
