Free-agent guard Cam Thomas has reached a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks, his agent Tony Ronzone told ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The 24-year-old scorer became available after the Brooklyn Nets waived him on Thursday evening when they failed to move him before the trade deadline. Thomas had hoped for a release if no trade materialized so he could choose his next destination.
“Super excited, ready to actually help and contribute to another team,” Thomas told Marc J. Spears of Andscape. “My next team is getting elite scoring, good play-making and a good combo guard.”
Michael Scotto of HoopsHype had repeatedly linked Thomas to Milwaukee ahead of the deadline. According to Scotto, the Cleveland Cavaliers also pursued a potential trade that would have sent Lonzo Ball and second-round draft compensation to Brooklyn, but Cleveland ultimately sent two second-round picks to Utah to absorb Ball’s $10 million salary.
Thomas led the Nets in scoring during the 2023/24 and 2024/25 campaigns but played only 25 games last season after straining his left hamstring, an injury he aggravated in early November that sidelined him for 20 straight contests.
