Brooklyn Nets guard Cam Thomas has been diagnosed with a left hamstring strain and will be sidelined for a minimum of three to four weeks, the club announced on Friday. He will be re-evaluated at that point.

The 24-year-old was injured during the first quarter of Wednesday’s matchup against the Indiana Pacers, a contest that marked Brooklyn’s first victory of the season. Thomas exited the floor under his own power but did not return.

This is the fourth time in the past year that Thomas has strained his left hamstring. The recurring issue limited him to 25 appearances last season.

Thomas accepted a one-year, $6 million qualifying offer as a restricted free agent this past offseason. Because of that decision, he is on track to reach unrestricted free agency in 2026, making his continued health particularly important to his future earnings.

Selected 27th overall in the 2021 draft out of LSU, Thomas has averaged 24.4 points, 2.9 assists and 1.6 rebounds across seven games this season, logging 31.6 minutes per night while shooting 40.8 percent from the field, 35.6 percent from three and 87.5 percent at the foul line.

If he returns exactly four weeks from now—a best-case scenario given his history—Thomas would miss 14 games. In his absence, head coach Jacque Vaughn could lean more heavily on Terance Mann, Tyrese Martin, Drake Powell and Egor Demin for backcourt minutes and offensive touches.
