The Polish Basketball Federation announced on August 10, 2025, that San Antonio Spurs forward Jeremy Sochan will not participate in next month’s EuroBasket tournament after suffering a calf injury.
According to the federation, Sochan reported discomfort in his calf following a workout earlier in the week. A Saturday meeting that included members of the Polish medical staff, Spurs representatives, Sochan’s agent, and his family concluded that the 22-year-old should return to San Antonio for treatment and rehabilitation.
“The injury is not serious, but there are less than three weeks left until EuroBasket,” national team director Lukasz Koszarek said. “Jeremy is a very important part of our team, and we are sorry his adventure with the national team ends so quickly this summer.”
The setback is not expected to jeopardize Sochan’s availability for NBA training camp, which opens in late September. Spurs general manager Brian Wright praised Polish officials for their cooperation during the evaluation process.
Sochan, whose mother is Polish, debuted with the senior national squad at EuroBasket 2022 and has represented Poland at multiple youth levels. Selected ninth overall in the 2022 NBA Draft, he averaged 11.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 2.4 assists over 54 games last season and is eligible for a rookie-scale extension this summer.
“I am very disappointed, but due to a calf muscle injury, I will not be able to play for Poland at this year’s EuroBasket,” Sochan said in a statement. He added that doctors expect him to be fully cleared in time for the Spurs’ preseason preparations.
