Detroit Pistons guard Cade Cunningham is on track to play Wednesday night against the Milwaukee Bucks at Little Caesars Arena, according to ESPN’s Vincent Goodwill. The fifth-year standout has missed the club’s last 11 games.

Cunningham initially left a March 17 matchup after five minutes with what the team called back spasms, later updated to a back contusion. Two days afterward, tests revealed a collapsed left lung (pneumothorax), sidelining him for nearly three weeks.

Before the injury, the former No. 1 overall pick was posting MVP-caliber numbers, averaging 24.5 points, 9.9 assists, 5.6 rebounds and 1.5 steals across 61 appearances while shooting 46.1% from the field, 34.6% from three and 81.4% at the line. With only three regular-season games remaining, he will finish below the NBA’s 65-game threshold for awards consideration, barring an exception from the league.

Detroit enters Wednesday at 57-22, locked into the Eastern Conference’s top seed. The Pistons have gone 8-3 in Cunningham’s absence, including two overtime defeats, but view a healthy leading scorer as essential for a deep postseason run.

Cunningham remains listed as questionable and, if cleared, is expected to face a minutes cap in his first game back.
