Golden State forward Jimmy Butler has contacted the Warriors’ front office to learn where negotiations stand with restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga, NBC Sports Bay Area’s Dalton Johnson said on the latest “Dubs Talk” podcast.

Kuminga, 22, is still without a new deal less than two weeks before training camp opens. Earlier this week, reports indicated Golden State raised its offer to $75.2 million over three years, but the proposal includes a team option for the final season. Kuminga and his representatives declined, according to Johnson.

“I can confidently say that Jimmy Butler has reached out to the team and asked, ‘What’s going on here? I just want to know the plan,’” Johnson told the podcast audience.

Butler, 36, arrived from Miami in a February trade and immediately received a two-year, $111 million extension from the Warriors, which ended his long-running standoff with the Heat. Johnson said Butler now expects similar decisiveness in the Kuminga situation: “Either pay him or move him. There needs to be a decision.”

Kuminga’s agent, Aaron Turner, told ESPN’s Anthony Slater that the forward would accept Golden State’s latest offer if the team option is converted to a player option. Failing an agreement, Kuminga could sign the one-year, $8 million qualifying offer he received in late June. That contract carries a no-trade clause and would make him an unrestricted free agent in July 2026.

No timeline for a resolution was provided, and the Warriors have not commented publicly on Butler’s outreach.
