Reports of a torn ACL for Golden State Warriors forward Jimmy Butler prompted an emotional response from his camp on Tuesday, even as the team has yet to release an official diagnosis.
Late Monday, multiple outlets indicated that the six-time All-Star suffered the season-ending knee injury. On Tuesday morning, Butler posted an edited photo of himself in a military uniform labeled “General Soreness” on Instagram with the caption, “Be back before you know it,” hinting at the severity of the setback.
Agent Bernie Lee addressed the situation in a statement to ESPN’s Anthony Slater, describing the injury as “a gut punch on every level for Jimmy and the entire group.” Lee said he remains convinced Butler will eventually capture an NBA title, calling the setback “part of the journey” and emphasizing the player’s resilience.
Lee added that functional decisions regarding treatment and surgery will be made in the coming days, after which Butler will shift his focus fully to rehabilitation.
Until the Warriors release an official medical report, Butler’s status is technically unresolved. Nevertheless, all indications point toward a lengthy recovery process for the 34-year-old star.
