The Chicago Bulls have turned away several offseason trade proposals for Coby White and currently have no plans to move the 25-year-old guard, an NBA executive told the Dallas Hoops Journal.
According to the report, at least one rival club believed a draft-night deal was close, but Chicago quickly ended discussions. “The Bulls love him… He’s not going anywhere,” the executive said.
White, the No. 7 pick in the 2019 draft, spent four seasons as a reserve before joining the starting lineup full time in 2022-23. He averaged a career-best 19.1 points that year and followed with 20.4 points, 4.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds in 2023-24 while shooting 37.3% from three-point range.
His role expanded after the mid-season trade of Zach LaVine, when White posted 25.0 points per game over the final 25 contests and helped Chicago finish 17-8 during that stretch.
The Bulls re-signed White in 2023 on a three-year, $36 million contract. Because of the structure of that deal, he cannot receive a major extension until unrestricted free agency in 2026, when Chicago could offer roughly $87 million over four years. League observers have speculated the team might explore a trade before the February deadline rather than risk losing him for nothing, but the current stance suggests confidence in retaining his Bird rights and competing for his signature later.
