The Chicago Bulls have put a four-year, $80 million contract on the table for guard Josh Giddey, according to Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, citing league sources.

Giddey, who entered restricted free agency when the NBA offseason opened on June 30, is said to be targeting an annual salary near $30 million. Chicago’s proposal averages $20 million per season, and team officials have so far remained firm at that figure, sources told Fischer.

Stat Line from 2023-24

In his first season with the Bulls, the 6-foot-8 playmaker averaged 14.6 points, 8.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists while shooting 46.5 percent from the field, 37.8 percent from three-point range and 78.1 percent at the foul line. He logged 30 double-doubles and seven triple-doubles across the campaign.

External Interest and Sign-and-Trade Possibilities

Fischer reported that multiple Eastern Conference clubs have contacted Giddey’s representatives to explore sign-and-trade scenarios. However, at least two front offices expressed hesitation about approaching Chicago, believing the Bulls are not eager to entertain such discussions.

Golden State Monitoring the Situation

The Golden State Warriors, who hold the restricted rights to forward Jonathan Kuminga, remain interested in Giddey, sources said. The Warriors were prepared to select the Australian guard with the No. 7 pick in the 2021 draft before the Oklahoma City Thunder chose him at No. 6, leading Golden State to draft Kuminga instead. While the Warriors have communicated their continued interest to Giddey’s camp, no realistic trade avenue is currently available, according to Fischer.
