The Chicago Bulls lost two starting guards to injuries during Monday night’s game against the Timberwolves in Minneapolis. Coby White departed in the first quarter with a right calf issue, while Josh Giddey left early in the third after hurting his left hamstring.

The club said White would not return after feeling discomfort in the same calf that cost him the first 11 contests of the 2025/26 season and 15 games overall. The 25-year-old guard also missed two additional outings earlier this month with soreness in his left calf.

White had just logged his first back-to-back appearances of the year on Friday and Saturday. Speaking before Monday’s game, he acknowledged he was still regaining timing and conditioning following the extended layoff. Contract talks between White and the front office, once described as mutual, have cooled amid recent trade speculation ahead of his unrestricted free agency this summer.

Giddey’s injury occurred moments after he brought the ball up the court; the 23-year-old quickly signaled to the bench and was ruled out for the remainder of the night. The Bulls did not provide an immediate timeline for either guard.

Chicago entered the matchup already short-handed in the frontcourt. Head coach Billy Donovan revealed before tip-off that center Zach Collins, 28, has a sprained big toe and is expected to miss at least one week. An official return date has not been set.

With Collins out, forward Patrick Williams rejoined the rotation after recently falling behind a double-big reserve pairing of Collins and Jalen Smith. Williams, 24, said he was prepared to capitalize on the opportunity and logged 21 minutes in the lopsided defeat.
