The Chicago Bulls and Charlotte Hornets have modified the trade that sent guard Coby White to Charlotte after the Hornets’ medical exam revealed a left calf strain, league sources told The Athletic.

White, 26 later this month, is listed as out on the NBA’s official injury report and is expected to remain sidelined until at least the All-Star break. Because of the injury, Charlotte will no longer send its least favorable 2029 second-round pick (shared with the Denver Nuggets) to Chicago. Instead, the Hornets will deliver two second-round selections in 2031—the Nuggets’ pick and the New York Knicks’ pick—while retaining the 2029 choice.

The revised package still features the core of the original transaction: White and veteran guard Mike Conley headed to Charlotte in exchange for guard Collin Sexton, forward Ousmane Dieng, and the pair of 2031 second-round picks. Shortly after the deal, the Hornets waived Conley, who intends to rejoin the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Bulls rerouted Dieng to the Milwaukee Bucks for center Nick Richards.

This marks the first trade of the 2025-26 season to be adjusted following a failed physical, though such changes are not uncommon. Last season, Philadelphia added a second-rounder to complete the Quentin Grimes–Caleb Martin swap after Dallas raised concerns about Martin’s hip, while the Lakers canceled a separate deal with Charlotte when Mark Williams did not pass his exam.
