The Chicago Bulls have declined several offseason trade proposals for guard Coby White and do not appear interested in moving him as he approaches a contract year, according to Dallas Hoops Journal reporter Ashish Mathur.

“Multiple teams tried to trade for Coby this summer,” an unidentified NBA executive told Mathur. “There was some chatter he was almost dealt on draft night. The Bulls love him. He’s not going anywhere. They have shot down trade inquiries for him.”

White, the No. 7 pick in the 2019 draft, spent his first four seasons as a reserve before becoming a full-time starter over the past two years. He averaged a career-best 19.1 points in 2023-24 and raised that mark to 20.4 points in 2024-25, while adding 4.8 assists and 4.1 rebounds per game and shooting 37.3% from three-point range since the start of the 2023-24 campaign.

Following the mid-season trade of Zach LaVine this spring, the 6’5″ guard assumed primary scoring duties, posting 25.0 points per outing over the final 25 games and leading Chicago to a 17-8 record in that span.

White re-signed with the Bulls on a three-year, $36 million deal as a restricted free agent in 2023. Because that contract is considered team-friendly, the most Chicago can offer in an extension is roughly $87 million over four years—an amount White is expected to surpass in unrestricted free agency, which he can enter in 2026.

Speculation persists that the Bulls could revisit trade talks rather than risk losing White for nothing, but club officials are reportedly confident they can retain him next July. Chicago will hold the guard’s full Bird rights and faces a relatively clean salary cap, though it would not have matching rights if White opts to sign elsewhere.
