The Milwaukee Bucks have reached a one-year agreement with free-agent wing Amir Coffey, bringing him to training camp ahead of the 2025-26 season, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Eric Nehm of The Athletic later confirmed that the arrangement is a training-camp contract.
Coffey, 28, entered the NBA as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and signed a two-way deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. He remained with the franchise for six seasons, converting to a standard contract in 2022. Over 323 career games (67 starts), the 6-foot-7 forward has averaged 6.7 points and 1.9 rebounds while shooting 45.5 percent from the floor and 38.4 percent from three-point range.
Last season, Coffey appeared in 72 contests for the Clippers, starting 13, and posted a career-best 9.7 points per game. His playing time has fluctuated during his tenure in Los Angeles, peaking during the 2021-22 and 2024-25 campaigns.
With the Clippers choosing not to re-sign him, Coffey became one of the more notable free agents still on the market. Milwaukee is expected to include Exhibit 9 language—and potentially Exhibit 10 language—in his contract, positioning him for a bonus if he spends at least 60 days with the Bucks’ G League affiliate.
The Bucks currently have a full 15-man roster, and Coffey is not eligible for a two-way slot. Second-year guard Andre Jackson Jr., whose 2025-26 salary carries only an $800,000 guarantee, appears to be Coffey’s primary competition for an opening-night roster spot.
