The Milwaukee Bucks have submitted a request to the NBA for a Disabled Player Exception (DPE) after forward Taurean Prince underwent neck surgery last month to repair a herniated disk, according to league sources cited by Eric Nehm of The Athletic.
Nehm’s report, posted December 16 at 6:26 p.m. CST, indicates the Bucks believe Prince—officially listed as out indefinitely—will likely be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025-26 season. The NBA has not yet ruled on the application, leaving Milwaukee to wait for confirmation on whether the waiver will be approved.
The DPE would allow the Bucks to add a replacement player or acquire one via trade within the salary parameters set by the league when a roster member is deemed unable to return that season. Milwaukee filed the request shortly after Prince’s surgery, which occurred in November.
No timetable has been provided for the NBA’s decision, and the Bucks have not offered additional updates on Prince’s recovery.
