Bucks reportedly renew interest in Kings guard Zach LaVine

The Milwaukee Bucks have recently conducted background checks on Sacramento Kings guard Zach LaVine as they continue searching for roster upgrades around superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, according to Sam Amick of The Athletic.

League sources told Amick that Milwaukee has revisited LaVine’s availability, noting the Bucks explored a potential deal for the two-time All-Star in previous seasons. Sacramento is said to be open to conversations about LaVine while evaluating the long-term direction of its roster.

LaVine, 30, is earning $47.5 million this season and holds a $48.9 million player option for 2026-27. NBA insider Marc Stein recently pointed out that the sizable option is a significant factor in any trade talks. Stein added that LaVine’s market could widen if the guard were willing to decline the option and negotiate a longer contract at a lower annual salary.

On the floor, LaVine is averaging 20.6 points, 3.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists while shooting nearly 39 percent from three-point range.

Despite his offensive production, questions about LaVine’s defensive engagement have surfaced in Sacramento. Sources told DallasHoopsJournal that Kings general manager Scott Perry and head coach Doug Christie share concerns as the team sits at 6-10 to start the season.

The Kings acquired LaVine last season from the Chicago Bulls in the three-team De’Aaron Fox trade that also included the San Antonio Spurs.
