Kevin Porter Jr. out through early December

The Milwaukee Bucks announced Tuesday that guard Kevin Porter Jr. underwent a successful procedure to repair a torn meniscus and is expected to remain out for approximately four additional weeks. The 23-year-old was already rehabbing a left ankle sprain when he hurt his right knee during on-court drills last week.

Porter started at point guard on Opening Night after re-signing with Milwaukee over the summer, but he logged only nine minutes before the ankle injury forced him to the sideline. His latest setback delays a return that was originally targeted for mid-November.

Acquired from the Clippers in February, Porter averaged nearly 12.0 points while shooting 49 percent from the field and 41 percent from beyond the arc in 21 games for the Bucks last season.

Kings

Achiuwa inks one-year deal

Forward Precious Achiuwa officially signed a one-year contract with the Sacramento Kings on Tuesday. In a video posted by team radio reporter Sean Cunningham, the 6-foot-8 big man said he can help Sacramento immediately through “size, defense, rebounding, toughness, [and] competing at a high level.”

Achiuwa spent last season with the New York Knicks and took part in Miami Heat training camp this fall before being waived just before Opening Night. He told reporters he remained patient and in game shape while waiting for another opportunity.

Pelicans

Slow start draws outside scrutiny

The New Orleans Pelicans improved to 1-6 with Tuesday’s narrow win over the Charlotte Hornets, yet outside evaluations of the franchise’s direction are already surfacing.

Yossi Gozlan of The Third Apron highlighted three offseason trades he believes harmed the club’s outlook for the 2025-26 season, including a deal that landed Jordan Poole and the decision to return a 2026 first-round pick to the Indiana Pacers. Meanwhile, Keith Smith of Spotrac suggested New Orleans might need to consider moving on from former No. 1 overall pick Zion Williamson.

The Pelicans return to action later this week seeking their second win of the season.
