The Milwaukee Bucks have filled their final roster spot, officially signing guard Cam Thomas for the rest of the 2023-24 campaign, the club announced Wednesday.
Thomas, 24, chose Milwaukee after being waived by the Brooklyn Nets when a trade failed to materialize at last week’s deadline. “I picked Milwaukee because they wanted me,” the LSU product told Andscape. “They’ve been interested for years, and it’s good to have this opportunity come to fruition.”
The move ends a brief free-agency period engineered by Thomas and his representatives, who preferred to select his next destination rather than be routed through a trade. “My next team is getting elite scoring, good playmaking and a good combo guard,” he said.
Milwaukee’s interest had been reported well before the deadline, with league sources linking the Bucks to Thomas for several weeks. Because the Bucks already had an open roster slot, no corresponding transaction was required.
Thomas led the Nets in points per game in each of the past two seasons but was limited by hamstring trouble earlier this year. He averaged 15.6 points in 24 appearances for Brooklyn while shooting just under 40 percent from the floor.
For the Bucks, the signing represents a low-risk attempt to bolster backcourt scoring depth as the franchise pushes toward the postseason.
