ORLANDO, Fla., Nov. 8, 2025 — Celtics forward Jaylen Brown contends recent officiating has been tilted against him, citing a late no-call in Monday’s win at Utah and Boston’s 113-100 loss to the Magic on Friday.
“I think in the fourth quarter, the officials made their point,” Brown said after the game, according to The Athletic. “I’ll keep my mouth closed.”
Boston led by one midway through the final period before Orlando closed on a decisive run. Brown scored 32 points but attempted only two free throws.
“I missed some good looks I usually knock down,” he added. “It turned into turnovers and they scored. They need me to make those shots.”
DERRICK WHITE VS. JRUE HOLIDAY QUESTION RESURFACES
In a mailbag for MassLive, Brian Robb examined whether Boston would have been better off trading guard Derrick White instead of Jrue Holiday while shedding salary in the offseason. Robb wrote that White’s four-year, $118 million extension, which began this season, likely would have fetched a larger return, but Holiday’s four-year, $134.4 million contract—now in its second year and carrying a player option—would have remained burdensome.
WALSH EARNS TRUST WITH CONSISTENT WORK
Second-year swingman Jordan Walsh has averaged 6.3 points and 5.7 rebounds in 20.3 minutes during limited November action. Head coach Joe Mazzulla praised the 2023 second-round pick’s preparation: “He treats every day as if he’s going to play. That mindset is what you have to have, and he handled it well.”
SIMONS RESPONDS AFTER QUIET FIRST HALF
Guard Anfernee Simons, acquired from Portland in the Holiday deal and heading toward unrestricted free agency next summer, logged minimal minutes before halftime in Orlando but scored 11 points in the fourth quarter. “He was more aggressive in the second half,” Mazzulla said. “There was no message; he just understood what we needed on both ends.”
The Celtics continue their road trip Sunday in Miami.
