LAS VEGAS — Marselles Brown, father of Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown, was taken into custody in Las Vegas on an attempted-murder charge after an alleged stabbing that stemmed from a parking dispute, according to TMZ Sports.

Police records indicate the former professional boxer is accused of stabbing a youth football coach during an argument outside a local field. NBC News 3 in Las Vegas reported the confrontation began when a passenger in Brown’s SUV hit the coach’s car door. The Celtics organization has not commented on the case.

Kings Remain Only Reported Destination for Westbrook

Veteran guard Russell Westbrook, 37, continues to sit on the free-agent market, and the Sacramento Kings are the lone team showing real interest, NBA insider Jake Fischer said during a recent Bleacher Report livestream.

“That’s been the one home all along that we really have looked at for Russell Westbrook,” Fischer noted, adding that Sacramento is “the most likely outcome” if the former MVP returns to the league. Westbrook declined his player option with the Denver Nuggets earlier this offseason.

Griffin Lauds Mavericks Rookie Cooper Flagg

Dallas Mavericks top pick Cooper Flagg, 19, is drawing significant buzz ahead of his first NBA season. Speaking on the “Post Moves” podcast with Candace Parker and Aliyah Boston, six-time All-Star Blake Griffin called Flagg “the most complete player that we’ve seen come into the NBA in recent memory.”

Griffin added, “He passes, shoots, defends, rebounds. He seems like a great teammate, a great kid. There is, like, what’s the red flag? Cooper is just able to play and guard so many different positions.”

Flagg will debut this fall on a Mavericks roster otherwise filled with established young veterans.
