Charlotte Hornets guard/forward Brandon Miller was ruled out for the rest of Saturday night’s matchup in Philadelphia after experiencing soreness in his left shoulder, the club said in a statement. The 22-year-old exited early in the second quarter and appeared to be in considerable discomfort, according to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps. The severity of the injury was not immediately known.

Miller was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2023 draft but played only a limited portion of last season following surgery to repair a torn scapholunate ligament in his right wrist. He opened the new campaign with 25 points and seven assists in 31 minutes against Brooklyn.

Additional Injury Updates Around the League

Lakers: Star guard Luka Doncic is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game in Sacramento with a sprained finger on his left hand. The injury occurred early in Friday’s win over Minnesota, and the All-NBA guard kept the finger wrapped for the remainder of the night. Doncic has totaled 92 points in Los Angeles’ first two outings, a single-franchise record. Center Jaxson Hayes (left knee soreness) is also questionable.

Kings: Guard Zach LaVine is questionable for Sunday’s contest against the Lakers due to an illness.

Hawks: Atlanta played without its entire starting frontcourt in Saturday’s loss to Oklahoma City. Center Kristaps Porzingis and rookie forward Zaccharie Risacher both missed a second straight game—Porzingis with flu-like symptoms and Risacher with a right ankle sprain—while forward Jalen Johnson sat out his first game because of a right ankle sprain.

76ers: Two-way forward Dominick Barlow, who started Philadelphia’s first two games, did not return for the second half of Saturday’s win over Charlotte after sustaining a laceration to his right elbow. Fellow two-way forward Jabari Walker opened the second half in Barlow’s place.
