The New York Knicks have overhauled their bench after advancing to the 2025 Eastern Conference Finals, hiring two-time NBA Coach of the Year Mike Brown to replace Tom Thibodeau.

USC men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman, who previously worked alongside Brown with the Lakers’ organization, told the New York Post that the 55-year-old coach is “super-detailed, super-organized.” Musselman recalled Brown’s insistence on color-coded playbooks and precision in training-camp drills, describing the approach as “a little bit of an NFL, detail-oriented mindset.”

Musselman added that Brown’s prior stops—guiding LeBron James in Cleveland, leading the Lakers, and serving as an assistant during three Golden State championship runs—have prepared him for New York’s media spotlight.

Knicks Still Seeking 14th Roster Spot

With one standard contract slot open, the Knicks remain interested in free-agent guards Malcolm Brogdon, Landry Shamet, and Ben Simmons, according to the Post. Conflicting reports persist on how seriously the club is pursuing Simmons.

Speculative LeBron Trade Explored

Kristian Winfield of the New York Daily News outlined potential advantages and drawbacks of trading for LeBron James should the Lakers star become available. There is no indication James has requested a move, nor that Los Angeles plans to shop him; the scenario remains hypothetical.

Father of Celtics All-Star Arrested

Marselles Brown, father of Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown and a former professional boxer, was arrested in Las Vegas on an attempted-murder charge, TMZ Sports reported. Authorities say Marselles Brown stabbed a youth football coach after an argument over a parking space. NBC News 3 Las Vegas confirmed the account, noting the dispute began when a passenger in Brown’s SUV struck the coach’s car door.
