Armando Bacot Opts for Fenerbahce Over Potential Hornets Contract

September 22, 2025 — Forward Armando Bacot says a late offer from Fenerbahce convinced him to head to Istanbul instead of pursuing a deal with the Charlotte Hornets.
Speaking to Bugra Uzar of Eurohoops, the 25-year-old explained that he initially planned to join Charlotte after receiving interest from several EuroLeague clubs earlier in the summer. “I talked with coach Sarunas Jasikevicius and some people around the team,” Bacot said. “I liked what they told me, and it was a no-brainer.”
Bacot spent last season in the G League after signing an Exhibit 10 deal with the Memphis Grizzlies in September 2024. Waived before opening night, he averaged 18.2 points and 9.5 rebounds in 34 games for the Memphis Hustle and took part in the 2025 “Up Next” showcase during All-Star Weekend.
The former North Carolina standout said the chance to play for Jasikevicius, who guided Fenerbahce to last season’s EuroLeague title, reminded him of his collegiate experience with the Tar Heels. “You have huge fan bases and big brands,” he noted. “Everyone is passionate, so it’s a great environment to be part of.”
Bacot acknowledged that balancing EuroLeague and domestic Turkish games will be demanding, but credited newcomers Devon Hall and Khem Birch with easing his transition. He also left the door open for a long-term stay overseas. “They treat you just like the NBA, so I’m definitely open to staying here if it’s the right situation,” he said.
