Milwaukee’s newest guard, Cole Anthony, says leaving the Orlando Magic still feels surreal even as he prepares for his first season with the Bucks.

“I still feel like I’m on the Magic a little bit,” Anthony told the Orlando Sentinel during a community event in Orlando.

The 25-year-old was selected by Orlando in 2020 and appeared in 320 regular-season games over five years. In June, the Magic sent Anthony, fellow guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and four future first-round picks to the Grizzlies for Desmond Bane.

Anthony’s stay in Memphis was brief. He negotiated a buyout, surrendering $2 million of his $13.1 million expiring salary, then cleared waivers and signed a one-year veteran’s-minimum contract with Milwaukee.

“I’ve been here five years, was drafted here, so it’s definitely bittersweet and I’m going to miss it,” he said of Orlando. “But it’s a great opportunity to join a team with playoff and championship pedigree. They’ve won a chip there. I just want to get in, contribute and be part of winning.”

Last season Anthony averaged 9.4 points, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 18.4 minutes across 67 games (22 starts). He will compete for backcourt minutes on a Milwaukee roster aiming to contend in 2025-26.
