Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been cleared to suit up against the New York Knicks on Wednesday night, ending a four-game absence caused by a right hamstring strain.

ESPN’s Shams Charania reported the 23-year-old’s availability on Wednesday afternoon, while the New York Post’s Stefan Bondy noted that Edwards will not face a minutes restriction.

Edwards sustained the injury on October 27, leaving a matchup with the Indiana Pacers after just three minutes. Through his first two appearances of the season he averaged 36.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists, shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc (8-for-16).

Without Edwards, Minnesota edged Indiana 114-110 and went 2-2 over the next four contests, defeating the Charlotte Hornets and Brooklyn Nets and falling to the Denver Nuggets and Los Angeles Lakers. The Wolves now meet a Knicks squad riding consecutive wins over the Chicago Bulls and Washington Wizards.

“He’s itching to play,” head coach Chris Finch told reporters, according to Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. The four-game stretch is the second-longest spell Edwards has missed in his career, surpassed only by a six-game COVID-19 hiatus during his second NBA season.
