The Dallas Mavericks announced Friday that forward Anthony Davis is expected to miss at least another week while recovering from a left calf strain.
According to a team statement on X, a recent examination showed “good progress,” but medical staff will re-evaluate the injury in seven to 10 days before determining the next step.
Coach: “He wants to be out there”
“He wants to play. He’s doing everything to get back,” head coach Jason Kidd told reporters, per Mike Curtis of the Dallas Morning News. “This gives him seven to 10 days to get better, and hopefully in that window he’s back on the floor.”
Davis appeared in five games before the setback, averaging 20.8 points, 10.2 rebounds and 1.2 blocks. Dallas went 2-3 in those contests.
The eight-time All-Star exited after six minutes of a Nov. 5 victory over the Indiana Pacers and has missed the Mavericks’ last eight games. Dallas enters the weekend with a 3-10 record, the league’s fifth-worst mark.
