Dallas Mavericks forward Anthony Davis publicly rejected an ESPN report claiming he is set to undergo surgery on his injured left hand, a procedure that would sideline him for months and potentially end his season.

ESPN insider Shams Charania reported that Davis is “expected” to have surgery to repair ligament damage, according to unnamed sources. Shortly after the story surfaced, the eight-time All-Star responded on X (formerly Twitter): “Y’all better stop listening to all these lies on these apps!” He followed with another post labeling the report “Lies!

Davis sustained ligament damage in his left hand earlier this season and has been consulting multiple specialists, league sources said. While surgery remains an option, no final decision has been announced, and recovery from such a procedure would be lengthy.

Before the injury, Davis was a frequent subject of trade speculation, with the Hawks, Bucks, Warriors, Raptors and other teams linked to possible deals. Interest has reportedly cooled since the injury, increasing the likelihood he finishes the season in Dallas.

The 30-year-old is earning $54.1 million this season and becomes eligible in August for a four-year, $275 million contract extension. People familiar with the situation said Davis’s representatives, led by Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, doubt the Mavericks are prepared to commit to that deal at this time.
