Former Celtics, Magic and Clippers big man Glen Davis was released from federal prison on Thursday after serving 17 months of a 40-month sentence for his role in a scheme that defrauded the NBA’s health and welfare benefit plan, according to The Athletic.
Davis, 40, was one of 18 former players charged in 2021 with submitting false claims for dental and medical procedures that never happened. Convicted in 2024, he was also ordered to repay $80,000. He will now transition to a halfway house, where he must complete financial management classes and undergo drug treatment. The halfway house stay is scheduled to end on July 9, after which he will begin three years of supervised release.
“He’s ready to become a productive member of society again,” attorney Brendan White told The Athletic, noting that Davis completed several programs while incarcerated.
