Amir Coffey has secured a place on the Milwaukee Bucks’ regular season roster, according to HoopsHype’s Michael Scotto.
The 6’7″ guard/forward entered free agency this past summer after spending his first six NBA seasons with the Los Angeles Clippers. In 72 games last year, the 28-year-old averaged 9.7 points, shooting 47.1% from the field, 40.9% from three-point range and 89.1% at the foul line over 24.3 minutes per contest.
Coffey joined Milwaukee on a non-guaranteed Exhibit 9 contract in August. That deal will now be converted to a standard non-guaranteed agreement as the Bucks finalize their 2025/26 roster.
His arrival puts pressure on two other roster hopefuls. Milwaukee must waive either Andre Jackson Jr. or Tyler Smith before the season begins. Jackson carries an $800,000 partial guarantee, while Smith is owed roughly $1.96 million. The club has a few days to make its decision.
Jackson, the 36th pick in the 2023 draft, appeared in 67 games for Milwaukee last season—starting 43—and averaged 3.4 points and 2.7 rebounds in 14.6 minutes. Smith, selected 33rd overall in 2024, played 23 games as a rookie at 5.3 minutes per night.
During this fall’s preseason, Coffey logged 3.3 points in 11.4 minutes over four games. Jackson also played in all four contests, while Smith saw action in two.
