Amazon Prime Video and NBC Sports each hired well-known journalists to bolster their NBA coverage ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Prime Video appointments

Prime Video named Chris Haynes as an NBA insider and Marcus Thompson as a feature reporter. Haynes, who previously worked for ESPN, Yahoo Sports, and Warner Bros. Discovery (TNT Sports/Bleacher Report), will break news and provide analysis on the streaming platform. Thompson will produce long-form stories while maintaining his position at The Athletic. He formerly covered the Golden State Warriors for the San Jose Mercury News and has authored several books on Bay Area basketball stars.

NBC Sports move

Returning to league broadcasts this season, NBC Sports added long-time NBA writer Chris Mannix as a digital insider. Mannix will create video content for NBCUniversal’s digital and social channels and make occasional studio appearances on NBC and Peacock during breaking-news segments. NBC senior NBA studio producer Adam Littlefield cited Mannix’s two decades of league coverage, calling him “someone audiences can trust with the league’s biggest stories and developments.”

The new hires arrive as both networks strengthen their on-air and digital teams before tip-off.
