MINNEAPOLIS — Golden State’s injury list grew longer Friday night when veteran big man Al Horford exited the road matchup with Minnesota because of right calf tightness, the team said.
The 39-year-old center/forward left in the first quarter after logging five minutes, finishing with three points and one rebound. He was ruled out for the rest of the contest.
Horford’s departure came on a night when the Warriors were already without Stephen Curry (patellofemoral pain syndrome in his right knee), Jimmy Butler (torn right ACL) and late scratch Draymond Green (lower back).
In his 19th NBA season, Horford has appeared in 42 games, averaging 8.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 blocks while shooting .425 from the field, .361 from three-point range and .846 at the foul line. Friday marked his 12th start; he has otherwise come off the bench, seeing 22.1 minutes per night.
Second-year center Quinten Post, who was upgraded to available Friday after bilateral foot injury management kept him out Wednesday at Chicago, is a candidate for additional minutes while Horford recovers. Guard DeAnthony Melton also returned Friday following a one-game absence with a left adductor issue.
Horford holds a player option worth just under $6 million for the 2026-27 season.
