The NBA has selected Utah Jazz forward Ace Bailey, Washington Wizards guard Bub Carrington and Miami Heat guard Jahmir Young to fill three open spots in Friday’s Rising Stars tournament, the league announced on Tuesday.
Bailey steps in for Dallas Mavericks rookie standout Cooper Flagg, who is sidelined by a left mid-foot sprain. Carrington replaces his Wizards teammate Alex Sarr, out with a strained hamstring, while Young takes the place of Chicago Bulls guard Mac McClung, who is dealing with a right calf injury.
The replacements are assigned as follows: Bailey joins Team Melo coached by Carmelo Anthony; Carrington moves to Team T-Mac under Tracy McGrady; and Young slots into Team Austin led by Austin Rivers.
Bailey, the No. 5 pick in the 2025 draft, has appeared in 48 games (37 starts) for Utah, averaging 11.6 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 26.2 minutes while shooting 44.9 percent from the field and 34.3 percent from three-point range.
Carrington, selected 14th overall in 2024, has yet to miss an NBA game. The 20-year-old is producing 10.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 4.6 assists per contest in his second season, with shooting splits of .402/.393/.761.
Young, 25, has spent most of 2025-26 with the G League’s Sioux Falls Skyforce. He has played eight NBA games for Miami but is averaging 26.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 9.8 assists in 16 G League outings.
Friday’s Rising Stars showcase features three squads made up of NBA rookies and sophomores and a fourth team of G League players competing in a three-game mini-tournament.
