Denver forward Aaron Gordon says the Nuggets’ summer transactions have restored a championship feel to the locker room. Speaking this week with ESPN’s Malika Andrews on “NBA Today,” the 30-year-old veteran ran through a list of newcomers he believes can push the club back into title contention.
The front office’s busiest move shipped Michael Porter Jr. to the Brooklyn Nets in exchange for Cameron Johnson. Denver then secured veteran center Jonas Valančiūnas from the Sacramento Kings and added shooting depth by signing free-agent swingman Tim Hardaway Jr.
Gordon saved his strongest praise for Bruce Brown, a key piece of the 2023 championship team who returned to Denver in free agency after two seasons away. He told Andrews that Brown’s versatility could create “problems” for opponents.
Entering his fifth full campaign alongside Nikola Jokić, Gordon emphasized the advantage of playing next to the two-time MVP candidate. He said the duo’s on-court understanding continues to grow, helped by the “gravity” Jokić attracts on every possession.
Gordon averaged 14.7 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.2 assists over 51 games last season, though a strained hamstring limited him late in the Western Conference semifinal loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. He confirmed the injury has fully healed as training camp approaches.
With Brown back in the fold and three new veterans in the rotation, Gordon believes Denver now “has a squad” capable of another deep postseason run.
