The 2025 edition of FIBA EuroBasket tipped off Wednesday with 28 current NBA players spread across the 24 participating national teams. The field includes three-time NBA Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic, two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, and five-time All-NBA first-team guard Luka Doncic.

The European championship is held every four years. Group play runs from August 27 to September 4, with each nation playing five games. The top four countries in each of the four six-team groups advance to a single-elimination knockout stage featuring the remaining 16 teams.

In addition to the 28 current NBA players, the tournament features 30 former NBA players and several others who have been drafted but have yet to appear in the league. EuroBasket’s champion will be crowned when the knockout bracket concludes later in September.
