WASHINGTON — The Washington Wizards ruled out point guard Trae Young indefinitely Saturday after he aggravated a right quadriceps contusion and developed lower-back irritation, the club announced ahead of its matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Young suffered the quad bruise during the third quarter of Monday’s loss to the Golden State Warriors, the team said. Head coach Brian Keefe told reporters that imaging revealed additional back irritation and that no timetable has been set for the guard’s return. “The back has been irritated. Don’t have a timeline on any of that stuff yet, but obviously, he’s out tonight,” Keefe said.
According to the organization, both injuries are being managed conservatively and will not require surgery at this stage.
Acquired from the Atlanta Hawks on Jan. 9, Young has appeared in five games for Washington, averaging 15.2 points and 6.2 assists. The Wizards enter Saturday riding a 14-game losing streak.
