The San Antonio Spurs will stage an open tryout on Sunday for a newly created supporters section envisioned by All-Star center Victor Wembanyama.
The club announced the plan on Sept. 9, 2025, saying it wants a group of dedicated fans who will deliver “nonstop chants, drums, flags, and passion” at Frost Bank Center throughout the season. Wembanyama, who came up with the idea after observing European soccer and basketball crowds, is expected to attend the audition.
Applicants must commit to attending at least 75 percent of the team’s 41 regular-season home games and agree to participate in organized chants and rituals “with passion and respect,” according to the Spurs. Membership costs $999 and includes merchandise discounts and opportunities to meet surprise special guests. The members will also vote on a permanent name for the section.
“If this group of ultras reaches its full potential, I have no doubt it’s going to help us win games in the future,” Wembanyama said. “The 41 regular-season games at home are 41 chances for them to push in the fourth quarter and give us that extra energy and that second wind that can give us the win.”
