SAN ANTONIO — Center Victor Wembanyama will start for the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night when they host the Utah Jazz, while point guard De’Aaron Fox has been ruled out because of tightness in his left adductor, the team announced.

Wembanyama had come off the bench in seven consecutive games after missing 12 contests with a strained left calf. Head coach Mitch Johnson kept the 7-foot-4 rookie on a minutes limit as he rebuilt strength and conditioning.

Fox was downgraded to questionable Friday afternoon and declared out Saturday. The guard, who lost the first eight games of the season to a right hamstring strain suffered during the offseason, is averaging 21.9 points, 6.1 assists and 3.8 rebounds over 22 appearances.

San Antonio enters the matchup riding an eight-game winning streak, a span that includes three victories over Oklahoma City in the last two weeks. With Fox unavailable, forward Julian Champagnie will log his 18th start of the year.
