San Antonio, March 14, 2026 — After sitting out one game with a sore right ankle, Victor Wembanyama came back Saturday night and powered the San Antonio Spurs past the Charlotte Hornets, 115-102, to wrap up a six-game homestand at Frost Bank Center.
The 7-foot-4 forward delivered 32 points, 12 rebounds, eight assists, four blocks and two steals. According to ESPN Research, it was only the second time in his career he amassed at least 30 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, multiple blocks and multiple steals in a single outing, matching George Gervin for the third-most such performances in franchise history. Tim Duncan (nine) and David Robinson (19) remain ahead on that list.
San Antonio improved to a league-best 17-2 since Feb. 1 and finished the homestand 5-1.
Fast start sets tone
Wembanyama opened with 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting in the first quarter, including two three-pointers, and reached 18 by halftime. In the third period he twice found center Luke Kornet for alley-oop dunks, then set up Stephon Castle for a reverse slam in the fourth.
“There were many areas where we dominated,” Wembanyama said. “It shows because we won three out of four quarters.”
Coach sees growth
Head coach Mitch Johnson praised the stretch of varied matchups during the homestand. “We’ve had to be in a lot of different types of games … All these experiences are, hopefully, lessons we turn into knowledge and wisdom moving forward,” he said.
Injury notes
Wembanyama missed Thursday’s loss to Denver while testing his ankle during warmups. He can sit out three more regular-season contests before becoming ineligible for NBA awards.
Rookie guard Dylan Harper was sidelined with a right calf contusion; Johnson called him day-to-day. Harper previously missed 10 games in November with a left calf strain.
The Spurs resume play on the road next week.
