San Francisco, Oct. 18, 2025 — The Golden State Warriors have released guard Seth Curry, a procedural move the organization believes will be temporary as it navigates the NBA’s new salary-cap restrictions.
Golden State sits just below the league’s second-apron hard cap, leaving no room for another veteran minimum contract until early November. By waiving Curry, the club keeps its 15th roster spot open and avoids exceeding the spending limit while the regular season begins.
Curry, 35, has been working out at the team’s Chase Center facility and joined the Warriors on their lone October road trip, though he did not appear in preseason games. The guard is expected to re-sign within the first few months of the season once financial flexibility improves.
The younger brother of Stephen Curry launched his professional career with Golden State’s G-League affiliate in Santa Cruz before playing for 10 other NBA teams. Over 11 seasons, he has hit 945 three-pointers at a 43.3 percent rate, the seventh-highest three-point percentage in league history.
This offseason, Seth Curry chose to join Stephen for the first time on an NBA roster. Despite Friday’s roster move, both the player and the team anticipate that plan will still come to fruition later this fall.
