San Francisco — Veteran guard De’Anthony Melton is slated to play his first game of the season when the Golden State Warriors visit the Philadelphia 76ers on Thursday night, according to ESPN.

The appearance will mark Melton’s return exactly one year after undergoing surgery on Dec. 4, 2024 to repair a partially torn ACL suffered during a Dec. 11, 2024 matchup with the Dallas Mavericks. He continued playing through the injury until testing confirmed the damage, then opted for season-ending surgery following consultations with multiple doctors.

Golden State traded Melton to the Brooklyn Nets after the procedure, using his expiring contract to acquire Dennis Schroder—who was later included in the deadline package that brought Jimmy Butler to the Warriors. Melton, 27, rejoined the franchise in free agency this past summer, citing confidence in the team’s medical staff and long-standing relationships with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.

“I feel amazing,” Melton said recently after completing several full-contact practices and scrimmages.

The Warriors head into the three-game trip at 11-11. Curry (thigh contusion) has been ruled out for Thursday, while Butler, Jonathan Kuminga and Al Horford are listed as questionable.
