PHILADELPHIA — San Antonio Spurs forward Victor Wembanyama squeezed in a quick getaway to Alaska after All-Star Weekend, returning rapt by the aurora borealis and labeling the experience unrivaled by anything he has previously seen.
“The northern lights top everything I’ve experienced,” the 21-year-old said Tuesday night after San Antonio’s 131-91 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers. “The display I caught might have been historic, maybe a once-in-a-lifetime show even for people who chase them.”
Wembanyama shared several photos from the trip on Instagram before rejoining the Spurs for the remainder of their annual Rodeo Road Trip.
His performance against Philadelphia proved almost as striking as the Alaskan sky. Attempting a career-low five shots, he still finished plus-41 with 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and six blocks. Five of those blocks came in the opening half, marking the fourth time this season he has recorded at least five in a single half; the rest of the league has combined for three such halves.
Now 22, the French star is averaging 23.7 points, 11.2 rebounds and 2.9 blocks in the 2025-26 campaign.
