NEW YORK — Rookie guard Tyler Kolek has been handed expanded responsibilities in the New York Knicks rotation as the team enters its next NBA Cup matchup, a game that carries yet another tournament payout for players and staff.
The shift comes ahead of Wednesday’s contest, dated Dec. 10, 2025, with Kolek expected to log additional minutes and ball-handling duties. Knicks coaches signaled that the former Marquette standout’s steady decision-making and perimeter shooting prompted the adjustment.
Under NBA Cup rules, every advancement brings a fresh bonus pool. New York has already collected one payout by reaching this stage and can secure a second with a victory. Kolek, 24, is one of several young Knicks who would benefit financially from the extra prize money.
The Knicks did not reveal precise lineup changes, but team officials confirmed Kolek will open the night as the primary reserve guard, backing up the starting backcourt while also sharing the floor with them in small-ball sets.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Madison Square Garden.
