Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro is scheduled for surgery on his left foot Friday, a procedure that will keep the newly minted All-Star out when the 2025-26 NBA season begins, the team announced.
The 25-year-old battled a left-foot impingement throughout last season. According to sources, an ankle injury suffered during an offseason workout prompted the decision to proceed with surgery.
Herro is coming off a career year in which he averaged 23.9 points, 5.5 assists and 5.2 rebounds per game during the 2024-25 campaign, earning his first All-Star selection. He has posted at least 20 points and five rebounds in each of the past four seasons, establishing himself as Miami’s primary scoring option.
The Heat will open the new season without their leading scorer as they try to rebound from a first-round exit in which they lost four straight to the Cleveland Cavaliers, three of them by lopsided margins. To bolster the roster, Miami traded for Norman Powell and Simone Fontecchio and drafted Lithuanian guard Kasparas Jakucionis to join Herro, Bam Adebayo, Andrew Wiggins and Kel’el Ware.
No timetable has been given for Herro’s return, but the Heat expect to be without him when training camp opens and into the early portion of the regular season.
