Michigan State men’s basketball coach Tom Izzo said he held “serious” discussions with the Phoenix Suns about their head-coaching vacancy during last summer’s NBA offseason.
Izzo, who has led the Spartans for nearly three decades, acknowledged the talks but ultimately chose to remain in East Lansing. No agreement was reached with the Suns, and he continued in his longstanding role at Michigan State.
