MINNEAPOLIS — The Minnesota Timberwolves paused pregame activities on Thursday night, Jan. 8, 2026, to honor Renee Good, the 37-year-old woman who was shot and killed by a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer one day earlier.

Good died Wednesday morning after a brief confrontation with ICE personnel while she sat in her car on a Minneapolis street roughly three miles from the Target Center. Her death has intensified protests around the Twin Cities amid an uptick in federal immigration operations linked to the Trump administration’s enforcement campaign.

“As we all know, our community has suffered yet another unspeakable tragedy,” head coach Chris Finch said before Minnesota’s victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. “We want to just convey our condolences and heartfelt wishes and prayers and thoughts to the families and loved ones and all of those that are greatly affected by what happened.”
