MINNEAPOLIS — Minnesota Timberwolves forward Jaden McDaniels has been ruled out of Wednesday’s home game against the Washington Wizards because of a sprained left wrist, the team announced.

The injury ends McDaniels’ run of 188 consecutive appearances, a streak that began after he missed eight straight contests with a sprained right ankle on Dec. 8, 2023. The current absence is his first in nearly two years.

McDaniels played only 23 minutes — his season low — in Minnesota’s 120-96 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Monday. He left for good late in the third quarter with the Timberwolves ahead by 27 points.

Widely regarded as Minnesota’s top perimeter defender, the 6-foot-9 forward is averaging a career-best 17.5 points per game while leading the NBA in three-point shooting at 52.1%. He is also posting personal highs in field-goal percentage (55.3%) and free-throw accuracy (84.2%) during his sixth NBA season.
