Oklahoma City Thunder guard Ajay Mitchell and Washington Wizards forward Justin Champagnie were suspended one game without pay on Sunday following a first-half altercation that spilled into the stands during the Thunder’s 132-111 victory in Washington on Saturday night.

The NBA also announced financial penalties for three other players involved in the incident. Thunder forward Jaylin Williams was fined $50,000, while Thunder guard Cason Wallace and Wizards forward Anthony Gill were docked $35,000 each.

The confrontation began after a Gill basket late in the second quarter. Williams and Champagnie exchanged shoves beneath the rim, prompting Gill and Mitchell to intervene. The dispute quickly escalated, moving into the seating area behind the basket before officials and arena security restored order.

After an extended video review, officials assessed two technical fouls apiece to Champagnie and Williams, leading to their ejections. Mitchell and Wallace each received one technical foul and were also ejected.

Champagnie will sit out Sunday night when Washington visits the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. Mitchell will serve his suspension Monday when Oklahoma City faces the Philadelphia 76ers at Wells Fargo Center.
